The March 2020 Quarantine Pay Program was put in place to be a temporary solution to address social distancing until COVID-19 treatment and vaccinations were developed. With large numbers of employees now vaccinated and new treatment options available, Yates and Nissan will now return to our regular absence and leave policies and programs. Below are guidelines for Supervisors and Employees to follow.
- Beginning January 1st, 2022 absences for COVID-19 (including testing) and quarantine for COVID-19 will be treated like any other approved absence under the attendance policy.
- The process to report COVID 19 symptoms and exposure remains the same.

COVID-Related Absences

- For absences after day 5 related to quarantine – PVT/PTO/VAC is optional, otherwise it’s unpaid.
- For absences after day 5 related to COVID-19 – contact Yates HR/Benefits for leave eligibility.
- An employee will not receive corrective action if they are off work and have exhausted their time if:
- They are diagnosed with COVID-19 (supporting documents required)
- They are waiting for a COVID-19 test result (supporting documents required)
- They are quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure (supporting documents required)
- They are caring for a family/household member with COVID-19 (could be covered by FMLA)
- If an employee is required to test during a work day they must return to work following a negative COVID-19 test, if they can work at least half their scheduled shift. If an employee does not report to work and is testing, they must test within the first 2 hours of the test site opening. If these guidelines are not followed absence/corrective action will apply.
General Guidelines
- If you test positive for COVID-19 you will be required to quarantine for 10 days and return (if fever-free for 24 hours).
- If a household member is positive for COVID-19, you will quarantine and test on day 8; if negative return to work, if positive you will quarantine for an additional 6 days (whether vaccinated or unvaccinated).
- If you are exposed to COVID-19 by a non-household member who has tested positive and you are symptom-free you should report to work (whether vaccinated or unvaccinated). You must obtain a COVID test on day 4.
